Happy Birthday Heidi!

First of all, I love your birthday because it’s a day solely dedicated to your existence... and we get to celebrate!

You are one the most selfless woman I know. You are have opened your arms and your heart to be part of our lives, and to carry our child. When I need someone to listen to my day, you’re there, lightening the mood and cracking a joke, offering a hug on a bad day, a shoulder to cry on when I’m upset, or just a few words to reassure me. Most importantly, you make me laugh. No matter the state – however awkward or in a bad mood I am, you make me laugh. I know you have my back, and of course you know I’ve got yours too.

You never know where this next year will take you, but why should that stop you! I hope this is a year where you smile a lot, laugh even more, learn a lot, and love a lot. I hope you discover something new and exciting, hold on to what you’ve always loved before, and trust and rely on God, because honestly those are the best surprises.

Not going to lie, some things will change (hopefully, you get a bump!). Nothing can stay exactly the same forever. But I’ll be cheering you on, laughing with you unconditionally, loving on you, praying for you, and being a friend who will keep you in your place while still supporting you to no end. And why is this? You’re pretty darn awesome if I do say so myself - you make the choice of ‘surrogate’ easy for me.

Here’s to another year of adventures. Here’s to watching our friendship grow, being open and honest with each other, loving and encouraging one another, and trusting in God’s plan. Here’s to growing babies (maybe even two), feeding you lots of chocolate and blizzards, and to new life. Here’s to the awkward doctors appointments, many needles and drugs, and laughter that comes with it to lighten the mood. Here’s to another year of having you as my friend, and surrogate!
